America’s country music singer/songwriter sensation: Toby Keith Covel
Born: July 8, 1961, Clinton, Oklahoma.
1979: Moore High School graduate, Moore Oklahoma.
Toby Keith Concert Tickets 1981: ‘Easy Money’ band formed. While an employee in Oklahoma’s booming oil fields, Toby Keith puts together his first band. Later, as the oil industry declines, Keith then plays semi-pro football for Oklahoma City Drillers, while continuing to perform in local bars with his band.
1984: Toby Keith decides to pursue music full time. ‘Easy Money’ plays the honky tonk circuit in Oklahoma and Teas. Soon, the band cut a single titled ‘Blue Moon’ and the song received some airplay on local radio stations in Oklahoma.
Keith marries his wife, Tricia. He has three children: Shelley, Krystal, and Stelen.
1993: Keith’s first big break. A flight attendant and fan, while working, gave a copy of Keith’s demo tape to a Mercury Records executive who was traveling on her flight. He liked what he heard, and signed Toby Keith to his first recording contract. His debut single, ‘Should’ve Been a Cowboy’, went to number 1 on the Billboard country singles chart. His climb to success now begins. . . and the rest is history.
